Warmth

Warmth is a community yoga center located in the Grass Valley / Nevada City area. At Warmth, we believe that conscious movement is medicine for the body, mind, and Spirit. The Warmth team is a collective of experts in their field who are passionate about the human body, therapeutic movement, spirituality, and eastern traditions.

We practice and teach traditional yoga and vinyasa.

Classes are 60 - 90 minutes and range from 98 to 103 degrees,  with 35 - 40% humidity.

Each class is a strong physical & spiritual experience.

We aim to offer you an environment and an experience that supports you to connect with your Highest Self. We use movement, heat, conscious breathing, and traditional yogic and tantric practices as tools to assist you in connecting with and embodying your Highest Self.

The Studio History...

Warmth opened its doors in August 2003 under the name "Bikram Yoga GVNC". Bikram Yoga GVNC was owned and operated by Helen Neff, a passionate yogini. Bikram Yoga GVNC operated for 10+ years as an exclusively Bikram Yoga studio. The original studio was located on Golden Gate Terrace in GV, about a mile away from the studio's current location on Spring Hill Drive.

In 2010 Bikram Yoga GVNC changed ownership and continued to operate as a Bikram Yoga studio for a while. Soon, Yin would be added to the studio schedule as the first non-Bikram style class.

In 2015 the studio's name changed from Bikram Yoga GVNC to Warmth Studios and another style, vinyasa yoga, was added to the schedule as "Warmth Flow". Shortly after Warmth flow was added to the schedule, inferno hot pilates was brought onto the schedule as well. What was once an exclusive Bikram Yoga studio had become a fitness center, featuring multiple styles of classes ranging from yoga to high-intensity interval training and more.

In 2017 the studio faced closure as the lease was due to expire and there were growing grievances between the studio owner and landlord, extending the lease was not an option.

In 2017 Mariah and Isaiah Sunrae became the owners of Warmth, and the studio was moved to its new (and current) location in January 2018. Warmth opened with the variety of classes that had built over the years, primarily Bikram, Vinyasa, and Inferno Hot Pilates.

Warmth began offering yoga teacher training in 2019.

In 2020 all fitness classes were removed from the studio schedule and Warmth returned to its roots as a hot yoga studio. Warmth offers traditional Yoga, 26 & 2, Vinyasa, Yin, and Yoga Nidra.

In 2020 Warmth Studios expanded to include a second hot room, featuring infrared heat.

As a community yoga center, Warmth provides a place for people to study and practice yoga.
